One day, without warning, change takes place. The child becomes a teenager and nothing is the same as before. For the uninformed parent, this transition can be traumatic. Her relationship with the child is turned upside down. The usual forms of discipline and gestures of affection no longer have any effect. The reports are to be restored.
A marriage and family counsellor for years, Gary Chapman has helped families through the worst problems associated with adolescence: impossible communication, rejection of parental authority, violent reactions, drugs, pregnancy...
Chapman argues that a parent can still play a very important role in the lives of their teens. It is, he writes in this book full of advice and encouragement, to relearn how to express love to his teenage children.
Their souls will then be filled with affection. They will not seek it elsewhere by sometimes destructive means. They will also have a solid foundation on which to build a mature and independent being.
